Re: Windows Media Question
The other question is, can LoudCity now support wma without me using SAM broadcasting software? Title info is picked up off my shoutcast stream.

Wont hurt I use a wma and mp3 stream been listed with them 2 years now.

What software are you using?
I've done both wma and mp3 with SAM or SPL.
I use RadioDJ a very good (free) automation program in development out of Romania (www.radiodj.ro). It outputs to a text file and I send edcast there to pick up the metadata. I can of course add a windows media encoder just not sure if loudcity can pull whatever they need off of that setup.
Might be they're not in the market for any more Gospel stations. Who knows. Trip
I hope that's not the case. They only have 1.5 pages of Gospel stations. You'd think that if a station was unique to their listing, they'd want to list it.
Circa Yahoo's Launchcast & whatever they have now, they thought ALR was unique enough to index the songs/artists -- until I banned their bot, that is. ![]()
Way to go, Dan~! Watch your listener numbers grow~!
Thanks Lane! I'm a bit overwhelmed....finally showed up in the listings on Saturday...and noticed today (and its just 7am eastern) higher than normal listenership on one of my servers. Checked Windows Media Guide and discovered that I'm a editor's pick in the classic rock category.
Way cool!
Just a note if you fill up and no one can tune in they will drop you .

Speaking of which, if any of you guys get close to the point of listeners overflowing my offer still stands.

Nathan...appreciate the offer. Today peak period (workday 9-5) filled 70% of my slots; we'll see what tomorrow brings...

Is that a 1st time thing or a "consistent" thing?
That is, the 1st time people can't tune in, they drop you?
Or the first time somebody complains that they can't tune in, they drop you?
Or is it that there's a time span there that people can't tune in?

I think it's mostly complaints, but I do think they randomly check the stations just like iTunes does.

Update: Now comes the interesting part. I have all my applications and licenses and agreements from Windows Media. Now comes the moment of truth -- filling it all out and waiting for the response. ![]()
I bet you are home free! I got turned down right up front, no bother with paperwork!

Donna,
You are in. Once they send you the contracts, it's just a matter of filling them out, them filing them and such and sending your copies back.
Hope you do better on there then I do. Of course this time when I asked them to add me again they stuck me at the end of the line, so no one really sees my station. ![]()
Don't really care anyway, my listeners come from iTunes.

The new guide is actually a lot better about that. They seem to shuffle the list at least weekly. One week, I'm on the last page, next week, the first, etc. So hopefully you'll rotate around with all the other stations in the genre and get even exposure over the long haul.

Yup, I've noticed that too, sometimes you'll surface as an editors pick as well, but they do rotate the lists about.

The reaction to being an "editor's pick" featured station has been overwhelming, to say the least. As my slots begin to fill yesterday, Nathan came through with some overflow bandwidth for me....its very much appreciated.

That's interesting, but I've been sitting at the end of the pack for two weeks now. Don't think it's weekly. Plus my stream is windows media, so don't see much clout in that either.
Update: I got an email yesterday stating they had rec'd all my forms back. So now we wait... ![]()
Hey, I got an email today and my station was accepted into the Windows Media Guide!
Thanks for everyone's help!
Er, Nathan -- if listeners blow up all my slots, I might need your help... ![]()
Congratulations! I just sent in a new submission. Gonna give it another shot. They need some Southern Gospel to keep your station company!

Thanks. Yeah, give it another shot! Hip hop calls a certain style "dirty south," but I changed it to "sanctified south." Southern Gospel is certainly "sanctified south." ![]()
