Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

I don't want to be a party pooper, but unless the rules have changed recently, we aren't allowed to use pop up players. Your player must load in a full screen from the Loudcity site.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

Yes, but the loudcity url must be displayed. You cannot have a popup player that shows no url, and yours doesn't show one.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

since when? I was told by Justin this was ok,
as long as the stream was launched from the Loudcity Domain

As far as I know it's been that way for over a year. The url of your launch page must show. You best put in a ticket and ask them about it. It use to be you didn't have to, but last I heard you did.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

From your website, you may link only to your LoudCity hobby or pro launch page, in a full browser window. Not AudioRealm, not SHOUTcast, and not a pop-up window. The full URL of the launch page must be exposed.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

Many of us used a pop up window prior to that policy change. It was neat and allowed the listeners to close the page and keep open the small pop up window. If the policy has changed again, I certainly want to know.

Yeah it was cool when we were able to do that, but it did change. As far as I know it hasn't changed back again.

I'm glad this conversation came up. I found the following post, also by John, at a later date, which might mean a change. http://forum.loudcity.net/viewtopic.php?id=753

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

We need one of them to clear this up. Now I'm confused.
But I still think the link showing still applies, because of the agreement they made.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

Don i read that link you posted and that is what i do i use my pro page as my landing for my website.

I basically use a php script to redirect my web visitors to my pro page so they are actually on my pro page but looks just like my index page
www.hoperadio.us/index.php redirects them to http://community.loudcity.com/stations/ … index.html

and it you look at a hidden page www.hoperadio.us/index.html they look the same

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

I spent about 2 weeks getting this answered if something has changed It would be great if someone from Loudcity will chime in and tell us.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

hope, we all do that, but it's still about the popup player that comes off your launch page showing the url that your launch page is showing.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

My only concern was that you could possibly be in violation of the LC TOS and put yourself in a bad position, especialy now with all of the SX crap going on. I'm all for pop ups and agree with Trip that we need clarification, but I also know they are busy right now with negotiations an we may have to wait a while. Thanks for bringing the subject up.

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

Assuming you get the OK from LC, I think a volume control would be great smile

You do some nice work.

I'm not speaking for LC of course, but I think there is a distinction between people who used the LC popup player from their own site (even with LC's URL in the address bar) vs. what seems to be OK -- launching a popup player from a pro LC page.

I think we can launch whatever we want from a pro page, as long as the actual launch files are on the LC domain and it's clear that the stream is being launched from the LC domain (i.e., our "loudcity.community.com....etc." pages).

As long as it is clear that the player is being launched from the LC domain, I think a pro webcaster can launch whatever popup player they want. I think the problem was that people were launching popup players from their own web pages, outside of the LC domain.

That's the way I understand it.

I think this is the key to understanding John's 2 posts:

John wrote:

If you are currently employing a pop-up window of any kind to direct listeners to LoudCity including the pop-up player, please replace that code with a link that points at your launch page in a full window. Yes, this is a policy change... We have had too many URL violations with pop-up windows.

The difference IMO is "popup... to direct... to LC" vs. "link that points to your launch page at LC."

Re: Updates Media Pop-up Player

From a LoudCity-hosted launch page with the URL visible in the browser window you may launch *ANY* player including Winamp, Windows Media, iTunes, Real Player or your own flash player /home grown in a pop-up window without the URL present.

None of the above may be launched from a station's own website, or from a LoudCity page that is hiding the URL (Address bar)

I hope this clears everything up.

1) HopeRadio's pop-up player is launching from their LoudCity-hosted launch page.
2) The URL is visible on that launch page and it is in a full browser window.

Therefore, the pop-up player is in full compliance with LoudCity's TOS
